The Eagle Has Landed

We are incredibly excited to announce that our package made it safe and sound to the Agape Orphanage in Haiti!! Pastor Jean-Noel said the girls were very excited about the letters and DVD's, although now they will be wanting to use his only television set! :) Some of the older girls know English and it will be good practice for them to translate our letters to the other girls. Their English is a little broken and I hope they will understand most of what we wrote. Perhaps next time we go, we should take a Haitian Creole - English Dictionary for them to keep, as they love learning the songs we both know in English. Over the years, we have learnt a couple of songs in Haitian and last year specifically we actually sang it to them as a performance - complete with dance moves and all! Now, if you have any idea the beautiful voices these girls were gifted with, our performance was definitely sub-par in Agape standards, but it is the thought none-the-less. The only words I can remember off the top of my head in Haitian is "Papiyo" (Butterfly), as we had this sweet girl sing us a song about a papiyo. And also "Jezi" (pronounced Jay-Z), which means Jesus in Creole.

Next year, I will learn more, I promise!
